Interactive Visualizations for Teaching Chemistry

An interdisciplinary project developed by professors Zoe Wood (Computer Science) and Zahra Alghoul (Chemistry) to develop a set of animations and simulations for presenting and exploring various topics of chemistry.

This projects aims to promote the use of technology as a learning tool, specifically for a list of topics selected from the introductory general chemistry courses taught in studio classrooms that are equipped with computers and a smart screen. The project proposes to develop interactive computer animations and tools in order to provide a more visual and interactive platform for learning about invisible phenomena in chemistry and performing experiments in virtual laboratories.

This project could branch out to include faculty from the graphics communication department, for example, to help direct the visual appearance aspects of the project.
